FRIDAY BOOK SHARING!
Are you ready for a mystery? Books? Running through the streets of San Francisco looking for clues? Book Scavenger might be the perfect book for you! Twelve-year-old Emily has a lot of experience moving to a new city, as her parents have set a goal of living in all fifty states! When she hears that their next city is San Francisco, she is excited! Why? This is the home of Garrison Griswold, creator of the Book Scavenger game. Now honestly, the game appealed to me right away. A scavenger game that involves hiding books with fun trivia and literary clues? Absolutely! Well, Emily figures that she will hunt for books in San Francisco, but she doesn’t plan on being drawn in to an entirely new, unreleased and slightly dangerous game. Garrison Griswold is attacked and hospitalized, and while the world is shocked at this news, Emily finds a mysterious book in a BART station and it is the start of a new mystery. Emily has the help of a best friend, teacher, and the sage book advice of a local bookseller. She also has two unfriendly characters who are looking for the same book that Emily has and they know she has the book – and isn’t willing to give it away, and she tries to solve the unraveling mystery. I won’t spoil the ending for anyone, just read the book! You will also want to check out the website where you’ll find fun information and yes, truly, there are copies of Book Scavenger hidden around the county. Who knows, there might be one hidden near you! (I just checked and there is currently one hidden in Carmel Valley, California….so I’m trying to figure out a trip there so I can search for the book!)
